RACES & REGISTRATION FEE

Remarks:

The triathlon relay team should comprise two to three athletes, with each participant required to complete at least one leg of the race. In the case of a two-athlete relay team, one of them is tasked with completing two legs of the race.

RACE GROUPING

1. Both Triathlon and Duathlon individual Athletes will be grouped according to their gender and age. The male and female groups are divided into the following age groups, which will be determined based on their age as of December 31st of the current year of the race.

2. No grouping for Triathlon relay teams.

 

ATHLETES QUALIFICATIONS

1. Athletes must be between 15 and 69 years old, and the age will be calculated based on their age as of December 31st of 2024.

2. Road-to-Offroad Triathlon Individual Athletes:

○ Athletes with triathlon racing experience must provide their triathlon finisher certificate from last two years. Duathlon or relay race finisher certificate will not be accepted.

○ First-time participants for triathlon must provide two types of certificates (please upload both for registration):

▪ Official finisher certificate from a full or half marathon completed within the last two years. Or a physical examination report issued by a public hospital within the last year, which must include a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, and blood pressure. Note: Physical examination reports from private medical centers will not be accepted.

▪ A race finisher certificate or license for open-water swimming events. If a participant cannot provide open-water swimming proof, they must take an open-water swimming test organized by the event committee before the race (specific time and location will be announced on the XTERRA WeChat official account).

3. Swimmers participating in the swimming leg of the triathlon relay need to:

a. Provide finisher certificates of participation in open water swimming races or a deep-water certificate within the last two years.

b. For first-time participants, provide a physical examination report issued by a public hospital within the last year, which must include a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, and blood pressure. And participate in the open water swimming ability test organized by the event committee before the race (please check the XTERRA official WeChat account for specific time and location). Note: Medical reports from private medical centers will not be accepted.

4. If experienced triathlon athletes cannot provide valid race certificates, first-time participants cannot provide qualified medical examination reports, the event will reject their registration and refund the registration fee.

5. If first time participants fail the open water swimming test, the event committee will reject their participation. In such cases, the participants will not receive a refund of the registration fee or be compensated for any associated losses. However, they can still collect their race kit except for the timing chip, participant bracelet, and race number.

6. Important notes for all athletes:

○ Health Requirements: This event involves two or three legs of swimming, cycling, and trail running, which demand a higher level of physical condition from participants. Athletes should have good physical health, a foundation of long-term exercise or training experience, and are recommended to conduct self-checks and monitoring based on the following recommended examinations (medical examination reports are not required, and participants assume responsibility for any health issues that may arise):

▪ General internal and surgical examination:

• Cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, valve diseases, coronary heart disease, and myocardial disease.

• Central nervous system diseases, such as epilepsy and severe neurasthenia.

• Family history of sudden death, sports stress or acute injury history.

• Respiratory system diseases, such as allergic bronchial asthma, and acute or chronic respiratory infections.

• Gastrointestinal diseases, such as peptic ulcers.

▪ Electrocardiogram (ECG) examination, the following ECG patterns will not meet the participation criteria:

• Sinus tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia.

• Frequent sinus arrhythmia.

• Sinus arrest; atrial, junctional, ventricular premature beats or escapes.

• Sick sinus syndrome.

• Second-degree and higher sinus-atrial, atrioventricular, left bundle branch block, etc.

• Preexcitation syndrome.

• Myocardial ischemia, ST segment depression (including horizontal, downsloping, upsloping, sagging, and pseudo-ischemic types), T-wave changes (including low, bidirectional, inverted), prolonged QT interval, inverted U wave, arrhythmia, etc.

• Other abnormal ECG patterns, such as atrial fibrillation.

▪ Comprehensive blood test (optional).

▪ Color Doppler echocardiography (optional), to assess heart chamber, valve, myocardium and its motion (contraction ability and compliance), ejection fraction, and cardiac output, to avoid structural disorders of the heart.

• Athletes should consider their own physical condition and only register for the race if they are confident they can complete it within the time limit. Safety is the top priority, and the race marshals or physician reserves the right to disqualify participants based on their physical condition, and participants shall not object to this decision.

 

REGISTRATION

1. To register, please log in to the XTERRA WeChat Mini Program or zuicool.com. Limited slots are available, and registration will close once all slots are filled.

2. Payment:

○ WeChat Pay

○ After completing the payment, the system will send a confirmation email to the registered email address. Once the registration process is completed, for any reason, all registration data cannot be modified.

3. Important athletes Information, such as the race category, athletes' name, ID number, date of birth, etc., must be carefully verified by the athletes, the guardian of kid players, or legal representatives. If any data errors cause damage to the individual's rights, the responsible party shall bear the responsibility, and no objections will be accepted.

4. If an invoice is needed, please send email to xterra.china@xterraplanet.com before May 26, 2024, listing out athlete name, ID#, receipt amount and invoice title. Request after that date will not be accepted.

 

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

1. All registrations are non-refundable after the specified cancellation dates. Registration is non-transferrable.

2. Athletes may be eligible for a partial refund of their entry fee (details below)

○ Any requests received before 17:00, Apr. 25, 2024 will be eligible for a 50% refund of the price paid.

○ Any requests received after that will not be eligible for a refund under any circumstance.

○ Athletes who wish to withdraw:

- If you register via XTERRA WeChat Mini-Program, you shall submit the refund by yourself in the Mini-Program.

- If you register via zuicool.com, must write to the race office via email at xterra.china@xterraplanet.com. The email shall include race category, order number, contact info.

3. For athletes who are unable to participate for whatever the reason after the refund deadline, if they wish to receive the race kit, they should send an email to xterra.china@xterraplanet.com within 7 days after the race before Jun.02, 2024. The race kit will be sent via cash-on-delivery (COD) & that will only be available within mainland China.

 

RACE CHECK-IN

1. All athletes are required to check-in in person.

2. Check-in Date: May 25, 2024 (Please refer to the event schedule for specific timings).

3. Check-in Location: XTERRA Yuyang Bay Outdoor Sports Center.

4. Check-in Process:

○ Identity verification → Sign the "Liability Waiver" → Collect race kit → Attend technical briefing.

5. During check-in, athletes must present the original identification documents used during registration (ID card, household registration booklet, or passport, etc.).

6. Underage athletes may be required to have their guardians or legal representatives sign the "Liability Waiver" again.

7. Athletes must collect their race kit in person using valid identification documents, while underage athletes must be accompanied by their guardians or legal representatives. Participants who fail to meet the qualification requirements or whose guardians or legal representatives do not sign the "Participation Declaration" on-site may be denied race kit giving, and no registration fees will be refunded.

8. Please check and ensure that the athletes’ information and race kit are complete and accurate to avoid any inconveniences.

9. A race briefing will be conducted to explain the race rules, routes, procedures, and important points to the athletes before the race on May 25. To familiarize athletes with relevant race information in advance, please arrange your schedule accordingly to attend the race briefing. The specific time and location of the briefing will be provided by the athletes guide before the event on the XTERRA WeChat official account.

10. Athletes who fail to check-in within the specified time will automatically lose their race qualifications and will not be allowed to enter the race route. Race Marshals have the authority to stop those athletes without a race bib from participating in the race.

 

RACE KIT

Remark:Relay teams collect race kits according to the number of team members. Athletes kit will be collected by the team leader.

 

RACE T-SHIRT MEASUREMENT (CM)

Remarks:

1. Please check your registration info before registering and ensure proper size is selected. If failed to do that, we would assign a random size to you.

2. The change of size after registration is not acceptable. Also, due to the long production lead time, athletes who register late may not be able to choose their own size.

 

AWARDS & PRIZE

2. Trophies:

○ For the Road-to-offroad Triathlon and Duathlon individuals, the top three finishers in each age group will receive a trophy and are required to participate in the award ceremony.

○ For the Road-to-offroad Triathlon and Duathlon relays, the top three teams will receive trophies for each of the team members and are required to participate in the award ceremony.

○ For the XTERRA CLUB Teams’ competition: Top 3 Teams will receive a trophie and all team members are required to participate in the award ceremony.

3. Prize:The overall top 3 male and female athletes in the Triathlon and Duathlon individuals, and overall top 3 teams in the Triathlon and Duathlon Relays will receive cash prizes.

Remarks:

• All awarded trophies must be collected on-site. If trophy pickup needs to be arranged after the event, the recipients must send an email to xterra.china@xterraplanet.com within one week after the race to apply for the arrangement. The shipping cost will be on the participants, and trophies will not be reserved one week after the race.

• All cash prizes are before tax. Before delivering the prizes, the personal income tax (20%) will be deducted.

 

RACE RESULTS

1. Results: This event adopts electronic timing system to calculate the race results based on the electronic timing data.

2. Results Arbitration: If athletes have any doubts about their race results, they can file an appeal with the event committee within 60 minutes after completing or withdrawing from the race. They must submit valid evidence (such as self-recorded data of sports equipment, videos, pictures, etc.). The event committee staff, together with the duty marshal, will review the evidence provided by the participant and make a ruling based on the official records.

3. Results Inquiry: Please follow the relevant articles on the XTERRA WeChat official account and the XTERRA WeChat Mini Program for result inquiries.

 

BIKE CHECK-IN

1. Time:Please follow the Atheletes Guide before the event on the XTERRA WeChat official account.

2. Venue: XTERRA Yuyang Bay Outdoor Sports Center

3. The transition area: Athletes are allowed to enter by showing their ID bracelet and race bib for race preparation during it's opening period of time. When the transition area is closed and no one is allowed to enter until its re-opened for bike pickup. Detailed timing will be announced in Athletes Guide.

 

RULES

A. GENRAL

1. If for any reason an athlete can not finish the race, he/she must report to the finish line area. This will result in a DNF (did not finish) result.

2. Please ensure that the transition bags are allocated in the designated areas.

3. When the transition area is closed, no entry is allowed.

4. During the event, athletes wearing the event race bib and event staff are allowed to enter the transition area. However, athletes' family members, personal technicians, or private photographers are not permitted to enter the area at any time.

5. On the event day, the transition area will be open at the specified time for athletes to collect their bikes and transition bags. Only athletes themselves are allowed to collect their own bikes and transition bags; athletes' family members, team members, coaches, and drivers are not allowed to enter the transition area for bike and transition bag collection. All athletes wishing to enter the restricted area must present their race bib to the staff to verify ownership of the bike.

6. For environmental protection, we advocate:

○ Littering on the course is prohibited. Any item that needs to be discarded, including water bottles, gel wrappers, energy bar wrappers, or clothing items, can only be discarded at aid / hydration stations.

○ No disposable water cup for this event. Please bring your own water bottle. A silicon cup will also be provided in the race bag.

○ Bottle water is not allowed to be brought to the course, nor taken outside of the SP stations.

○ Alpenstocks and other auxiliary tools are not recommended during the race.

○ No smoking in SP stations or on the course.

7. MP3 players or any kind of personal music / listening devices with headset are banned to be used at any time during the race for safety concern.

8. Race bibs and race registration CANNOT be transferred. Athletes found racing under a different name will be disqualified.

9. Consider the safety of yourself and other athletes at all times during the race. Treat other athletes, race officials, race marshals, medical staff, traffic enforcers, and spectators with respect and courtesy before, during and after the race.

10. Participants shall refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including the improper use of language or conduct directed toward another participant, race official, race marshal, medical staff or traffic enforcer, and spectators.

11. Any protest relating to race results must be submitted in writing together with evidence to the Race Director within one hour of the final race cutoff. During the event, athletes are not allowed to question the marshals on the spot. Failure to comply may result in time penalties or disqualification, as determined by the event organizing committee.

12. In case of severe weather on race day, XTERRA reserves the right to make the necessary adjustments to the racecourse to ensure the safety of all participants. If XTERRA cancelled the race, full payment of the registration fee would be returned to athletes.

13. The event organizer XTERRA SPORTS(SUZHOU) CO., LTD reserves the right to modify the rules at any time. Any adjustments will be announced in Athletes Guide and will be declared during the race briefing held on the day before the race day.

 

B. SWIM

1. Athletes must wear the swim cap provided by the event organizer in the race kit, and wear the swimming glasses, and timing chip before starting the race.

2. The swimming stage will adopt a rolling start (athletes enter the water one by one). Participants must wait for the marshal's confirmation before starting the swim. Failure to follow the instructions will result in disqualification.

3. Swimmers are allowed to use any swimming style, but they must wear a swim cap; otherwise, they will be disqualified.

4. The use of any propulsive devices that can give advantages (such as snorkels, fins, gloves, socks, hand paddles, or any floating devices, including kickboards) or equipment that may harm other athletes is prohibited. Buoyancy aids are exempt from this restriction, but the connecting rope must be longer than 40cm.

5. When the water temperature is 24.5 degrees Celsius or below, a wetsuit is allowed. When the water temperature exceeds 24.5 degrees Celsius, a wetsuit or wetpants are not allowed. When the water temperature is 16 degrees Celsius or below, all athletes must wear a wetsuit. The event organizer will announce the water temperature before the race.

6. The thickness of any part of the thermal wetsuit must not exceed 5mm. If the wetsuit consists of two parts, the thickness at the joint must also not exceed the 5mm limit.

7. Swimmers must have their race number displayed on both upper arms by race officials prior to the start of the swim.

8. The outermost part of the wetsuit must fit tightly to the athlete's body during the swimming process. The wetsuit may cover any part of the athlete's body except the hands, face, and feet.

9. Violators of the rules will have their results and rankings disqualified.

 

C. CYCLING

1. For the cycling stage, athletes are advised to use road bikes or triathlon bikes. Each athlete must bring their own race vehicle, equipment, and protective gear. Any form of motorized assistance is strictly prohibited. Athletes must ensure that their vehicles' brakes and other components are in good condition. Any injuries or damages caused by the quality, condition, or improper use of the vehicle will be the sole responsibility of the participant. All vehicles must undergo inspection and approval by the organizing committee's marshals before being allowed to participate in the race.

2. It is strictly prohibited to be nude (including bare-chested) during the race. Athletes must wear mandatory safety gear, a cycling helmet, from the moment they touch their bikes. Only after completing the cycling stage and safely placing the bike in the transition area can they remove the cycling helmet. No bike repair services will be provided during the race, and athletes must bring their own repair tools. While repairing the bike, athletes must not obstruct the race course.

3. Drafting behind other vehicles or athletes is strictly prohibited during the cycling race. Details please refer to regulations by China Triathlon Sports Association.

4. Keep riding to the right during the bicycle race and do not exceed the centerline;

 

D. RUN

1. Athletes may run or walk to complete the course. Outside assistance is not allowed.

2. Race number must be clearly visible on the front of the runner all the time.

3. It is strictly prohibited to run naked (including bare-chested) or run barefoot during the race.

4. The use of alpenstocks or any other assistance tools is strictly prohibited during the competition.

5. Athletes are strictly prohibited from being accompanied by teammates, team leaders, or any other individuals while running.

 

E. INSPECTION OF RACING ATTIRE AND EQUIPMENT

The inspection of athletes' racing attire and equipment will be conducted during the check-in and entry into the transition area on the race day. There will be no separate inspections before the race. If athletes are unsure whether their racing attire and equipment comply with the competition rules, they may submit their competition attire and equipment to the marshels for inspection after the race technical briefing.

RELAY EXCHANGE

1. The relay exchange from one team member to another will take place inside the exchange zone.

2. The exchange is completed by the in-coming athlete, using their hand to contact the body of the out-going athlete within the relay zone.

3. If the exchange occurs unintentionally outside the exchange zone, the team will receive a penalty of 10 seconds, which must be served in the penalty box. If the relay Exchange was done intentionally outside the relay zone, the team will be disqualified.

4. Prior to the relay exchange, the athletes will wait in a pre-relay exchange area until the Technical Official tells them to enter the exchange zone.

5. Athletes who complete their races will leave the transition area. Athletes won't be allowed to enter until it re-opens after the race.

 

PENALTY RULES

1. During the cycling and running leg, it is strictly prohibited to cross over signage, caution tape, cones, the centerline of the road, or take unauthorized shortcuts. If any of the above violations occur, marshals will record the athlete's number and have the authority to issue a yellow card, resulting in a 2-minute penalty. The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify an athlete from the race in case of serious violations or if they receive two yellow cards in the same segment.

2. The following violations will result in the cancellation of race results:

○ Accepting drinks or food from others contrary to the event regulations.

○ Disobeying the instructions of the marshals.

○ Failure to wear a swim cap.

○ Not wearing a safety helmet or affixing the helmet and bike number stickers.

○ Not placing the race number bib on the front chest.

○ Using any wheeled devices other than bicycles, such as inline skates, skateboards, or scooters, on the race course.

○ Before crossing the finish line, athletes must have their race bibs checked by the marshals. Marshals have the authority to disqualify athletes for violations, disrespect towards referees, or engage in acts of proxy running, and participants may not dispute these decisions.

3. The following violations will result in the cancellation of race results, a three-year ban from participating in XTERRA race event, and the publication of the offender's name on the official event website:

○ Athletes who receive assistance from others during the race (e.g., hitching rides, being supported, etc.).

○ Athletes whose registered category does not match their ID.

○ Violations of sportsmanship and ethics (e.g., fighting, insulting marshals and event staff, etc.).

 

XTERRA CLUB TEAMS’ COMPETITION

1. Each team with eight or more successfully registered team members is eligible for a team registration discount, with no restrictions on the category.

2. Teams must have at least five athletes who complete the Triathlon individual race and finish with valid results to qualify for participation in the team competition.

3. The total results of the top five best individual scores from each team in Triathlon individual race will be used to calculate the team's competition score. Teams ranking in the top three will receive cash prizes and trophies.

SPECIAL NOTE / Safety Precautions:

1. Please consider your physical health condition and only register for this event if you are confident that you can complete it within the designated cut-off time limits. Safety is first priority and the event marshals or medical personnel have the authority to disqualify athletes based on their physical condition. Athletes may not dispute such decisions.

2. Athletes should pay close attention to their health condition. Please carefully consider your own health before participating. If you feel unwell, do not push yourself. If you have a medical history related to the heart, blood vessels, diabetes, or any other relevant conditions, please do not conceal them and refrain from participating. In case of any accidents during the race event, the participant will be responsible, and the organizer will not assume any liability.

 

INSURANCE INFORMATION

1. This event provides public accident insurance (details subject to the insurance contract with the insurance company) covering participants, event staff, and spectators within the designated event venue. Athletes are also encouraged to consider purchasing personal insurance according to their individual needs.

2. In the event of unforeseeable circumstances such as adverse weather conditions, political issues, or wars, the organizer reserves the right to decide whether to cancel or postpone the event or use alternative routes to ensure participants' safety. The organizer will make further announcements in such cases.

3. Athletes must follow the course signages and comply with traffic regulations, signs, markings, and signals during the race. Pay attention to road conditions and ensure personal safety during the round-trip journey.

4. It is essential to fill in all fields of the registration form accurately. Any errors or omissions leading to a loss of insurance coverage are the responsibility of the athlete.

5. The public accident insurance covers third-party bodily injury, death, disability, or property damage caused by accidents occurring during the insurance period. When the insured becomes liable for compensation under the law and is subject to a claim for compensation, the insurance company is responsible for providing compensation.

Exclusions from coverage:

1. Injuries resulting from personal illnesses during sports activities are not covered.

2. Symptoms caused by personal physical conditions, such as shock, heart disease, diabetes, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, altitude sickness, epilepsy, dehydration, etc., are excluded from coverage. The public accident insurance only covers injuries resulting from external accidents.

3. Participants with a medical history of illnesses mentioned in the second exclusion are advised to carefully consider their safety and purchase personal accident insurance separately.

4. If you have a medical history related to the following conditions, which are considered high-risk factors for sudden death, please consult a physician for professional judgment and refrain from participating if necessary: unexplained chest discomfort (chest tightness, chest pain), unexplained shortness of breath, unexplained dizziness, sudden loss of consciousness, hypertension, heart disease, abnormal kidney function, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, family history of heart disease, epilepsy.

 

DISCLAIMER

1. During the event, if athletes incur property damage or bodily injuries due to their participation in the race, the organizer will assist in handling insurance claims. However, participants may not seek any form of compensation from the organizing committee, host organization, or event organizer for reasons such as being covered by existing insurance claims, exclusion from coverage, or non-compliance with the insurance policy.

2. Once athletes register, it is considered that they agree to all the provisions of this competition rules.
